Top 20 Recipes and Articles in 2013
Sometimes when I write an article, I know it is going to be popular.
Other times I expect something I wrote to get a lot of attention, but no one seems to be reading it.
Then there are articles that I really don’t expect to get much attention. There is so much to read on the web and it’s easy for even great content to get overlooked. When I’m wrong and these articles get a ton of traffic, I couldn’t be happier.
That’s exactly what happened with #7 below. My Oatmeal Cookie recipe was posted just before Christmas…when every blogger who even occasionally posts recipes was pumping out as many cookie recipes as they could before the holiday hit.
Truthfully, I’m absolutely stunned that this simple recipe is one of my most visited pages for the year.
Why Do I Blog?
You might be wondering why I blog since I don’t seem to care if an article gets a lot of traffic.
I actually do care, but if almost no one read this blog, I would still keep writing.
In fact, I did write it for a long time before I started getting much traffic. Implementing the tips I learned at the BlogHer convention last summer and getting serious about regular posting has made a world of difference in my readership.
But it’s not all about traffic.
- I write because I like writing.
- I write because I like sharing things that might help you or you might enjoy.
- I write because I like helping people become aware of things that are important to me.
I don’t need a lot of people to read what I write to make it worthwhile. But it sure is fun when it happens!
