Me at my room at Ramon’s Village Resort in San Pedro, Belize
When I first started this blog, its sole purpose was to give me a place to blog about all of my vacations.
I wanted to create a blog travel diary, but my vacations didn’t really belong on any of my current blogs since they were all real estate or St. Louis focused.
When I decided to shut down my inactive UCity Homes blog, I needed to find a new home for the travel posts I had already published. Having no where else to put them, I had posted them on the UCity site under the series “UCity Homes on Vacation.”
I had written about my trips to England (London, Thornbury, Bath & Winchester) and my trip to Mexico with my mom to see my brother (Merida, Mahahual & Playa del Carmen).
As soon as I set up my new Future Expat site, I moved over the England and Mexico trips posts and I was already all ready to blog about travel.
My first blog travel series after setting up this blog was another trip back to Mexico to see my brother (he lives in Mahahual, Mexico). This time we went to Chetumal and then crossed the border by boat into Belize.

I also added a Road Trip category for destinations close to St. Louis, and wrote about my trip to Kansas City and Fulton, MO.

Very quickly, I realized that if I wanted this to be an active blog, then I needed to expand my topics since I only travel a few times a year.
I started writing about St. Louis, recipes, home improvement, product reviews and a few other odds & ends.
Then I adopted Milo and my life changed. I started posting about him and other rescue dogs that need to be adopted. Actually, the blog became too much about dogs and I am working hard to get some balance back.
But I stopped blogging about travel.
Last year was a really hard year for me and blogging about the trips I took in 2012 just never happened. Then I took a trip last month but it seemed odd to blog about this trip without doing the ones from last year first. Silly, I know.
Anyway, I’m now 3 trips and a couple of road trips behind. Plus I’m getting ready to head to Chicago this week for the BlogHer 2013 conference…which I WILL blog about right away.
I’m committed to getting all of the trips onto this blog, but I don’t want it to go from dogs and recipes to all travel, and then back again. Instead, I’m going to roll out the trip posts over the next couple of months.
