Pet bloggers were surveyed last month by Blog Paws about their spending habits related to their pets and plans for pet holiday spending. The results clearly show that pets are at the center of holiday plans for many people.
With so many of us looking for gifts for our pets, I found some unique gifts for dogs and cats that I just had to share.
Blog Paws put together this INFOGRAPHIC to share the highlights from the survey.
Granted, pet bloggers may not mirror the full spectrum of pet owners, but they do give us some insight into how much money is being spent on pets nowadays.
It’s not surprising that pet bloggers use other pet blogs as a resource for finding gift ideas. But who knew people were spending so much on pet gifts. I’ve never come near spending over $100 on a single pet gift, but over 1 in 4 pet bloggers have bought their furry friends such extravagant gifts.
With $56 million U.S. households owning dogs and another $45 million with cats, that’s a lot of pet presents getting purchased in the next month.
Unique Pet Gifts:
If you are looking something unique for your dog or cat, I’ve got a few ideas.

Cat Gift Ideas:
All of these cat gifts come from Uncommon Goods which is one of my latest favorite online stores. They only carry unique, quality items. Many are handmade by artists throughout the world.
While I don’t currently have a cat, my first pet of my own was a sweet tortoise shell kitty. I know she would have loved these items as gifts.
Catnip Chocolate Covered Strawberries – Set of 3
Every cat likes catnip and little things to bat around. These are handmade and are simply adorable.
This got great reviews that cats love it.
Another handmade items, this one comes from Nepal.
Turn your kitty into a pilot. You can’t get much cuter than this.
Dog Gift Ideas:
I do most of my local shopping at PetSmart. I like the selection, the staff is so helpful and I’ve always had a great experience when I’ve had to return something. All of these dog gift ideas are PetSmart items.
KONGA Stuff-A-BallTM Treat Dispensing Dog Toy
This is actually one of the only toys that Milo likes. He just isn’t a toy kinda dog. But he loves his Kong ball because it gets stuffed with treats. I use training size treats or cheese, and it keeps him busy for a long time.
Chuckit!A Ball Launcher Dog Toy
Milo doesn’t play ball, so this wouldn’t work for me. But I’ve seen this in action at the dog park and if I had a ball chasing dog, I would be ordering one today.
My Mom has a car seat like this for little Lexi, and she loves being able to see out from her perch. Milo is a bit big for one of these car seats, so he rides directly on the front seat.
K&H Thermo-Cusihion Heated Pet Bed
I had no idea they made heated dog beds. If your buddy gets cold easily, this is your answer. Plenty of more styles available.
Solvit Tagalong Pet Bicycle Basket
Milo would flip out if I tried to put him in a bicycle basket (he’s afraid of the shopping cart at Home Depot!) but I think this is absolutely adorable for small dogs who aren’t as skittish as my Milo.
Really love how you incorporated highlighted info from the infographic in an original way with the christmas ornament shape! *wags*
Thanks. My original featured image was a screen clip of the infographic plus the title, but it was really busy and didn’t show off any of the gift ideas, so I just changed it up yesterday.
